Inlays, also known as partial crowns, are placed on top of an existing tooth to strengthen, prevent further damage or restore the shape of a tooth when there isn’t any damage to the cusps of the tooth.
Although Porcelain Inlays often have a more aesthetically pleasing result due to their natural tooth colour, Gold Inlays are more gentle to the opposing teeth and require less of the tooth structure to be removed. Gold Inlays are also more durable than Porcelain Inlays.
Gold Inlays are usually fitted over two appointments. During your first visit we will prepare the tooth area and remove any decay before taking an impression of the tooth to send to the laboratory. A temporary inlay is then fitted to the tooth. On your second appointment we will remove the temporary inlay and fix your Gold Inlay.
