Bridges

A Bridge is used to fill in gaps in your smile using your natural teeth to support the false teeth (or tooth) and provide an alternative to dental Implants or dentures. Adjacent teeth, referred to as abutment, each have a crown fitted with a pontic, or false tooth, attached to replace the missing teeth (or tooth), closing the gap.

It is necessary to prepare the abutment prior to fitting a Bridge and as such the treatment is split into at least two appointments depending on the amount of reduction required in order to fit the Bridge.

Bridges are used to create a complete smile as well as restoring function and when looked after should last between 10 and 15 years on average. Good oral hygiene is required as cleaning underneath Bridges can be more difficult.
